What are the beneits to me?
- Work at your own speed – in your own time
- No fixed completion dates.
- Put the course down when life gets hectic – pick it up again when things calm down
Although this is not a professional qualification in itself, it is set up to ‘prepare’ you for teaching and for the professional BHS Teach Award or the ABRS Level 2 Coaching Certificate.’ To gain the relevant stable management qualifications first contact the BHS or the ABRS. We can provide the theory for those, so for more information review the equine management courses on this site.
- This is one of the very few – if not the only distance course available which explains what to teach, what to prepare & how to present your lessons and plans for BHS & ABRS assessment
- This course provides you with the details of exactly what to expect on assessment day and will give you the tools to achieve a good pass
- Perfect for anyone preparing for professional assessments and exams
- It’s useful for anyone aiming to teach anywhere in the world.
- Mini lecture/presentations are included. These presentations cover a variety of topics useful and a standard for presenting to staff and regular helpers and volunteers. You will learn how to plan and present your talks with ease and confidence.
- If you are already teaching, aim to teach / coach professionally in future, this course will help you prepare lessons – give you ideas on how to approach lead rein, groups, private lessons, jumping lessons and more.
- You’ll learn how people learn and how to handle situations when you have groups of parents on the sidelines who are sometimes keen to ‘assist’

Although it is aimed at those hoping to gain professional qualifications it is obviously useful for anyone aiming to teach or achieve a good coaching standard.
This is a preparation for ‘teaching on a practical basis’ course. To get the best from the course material you need to practice teaching a variety of lessons to gain experience and improve your skills.
If you really want to teach ‘professionaly’ it means gaining qualifications. It is suggested that as well as private lessons.you need practice in teaching a minimum of 2-3 riders to try to emulate the probable group of 6 lessons on which you would be assessed during BHS or ABRS qualification assessments.
Most international coaching qualification systems are similar in approach. Check this information link if practice for coaching is still on your agenda – if you are teaching in exchange for ‘something’ you do – i.e. you do some teaching and payment is for stabling of your horse or something similar, read this information link
If however, you are just starting to look into teaching and coaching and want to get an idea of what modern teaching is about and to be sure you are on the right lines in your approach, you could use this course to gain an insight into the topic and the qualification assessments.
This is a unique course – one of the first of it’s kind. To our knowledge, nowhere else will you find such useful and broad approach from distance learning on this professional qualification topic. A brilliant tool – especially if your teaching assessment is coming up soon.
Learn how to teach, how people learn, how to assess risks.
